Texas Wine Country

Eric & I had such a great time visiting the Texas Wine Country on Valentine's Day! It's still amazes me that I never realized this was just a 2 hour drive from our house!

We started the day out with a healthy (helping) of breakfast at the Koffee Kup in Hico, then headed down 281 to Burnet. We were planning to start south in Burnet and head back north to Lampassas. But we only made it to 3 vineyards, all surrounding Burnet. We had such a great time & look forward to visiting some more of the 27 wineries/vineyards on the map!

Lost Creek - this place has a few rooms to rent, a beautiful outdoor firepit area, and a very nice restaurant/bar for dining.

Perissos - this was our favorite of the three. A couple - the - started this vineyard just a few years ago & has really produced some nice wine. They just opened the vineyard (& their home) for tastings last year. We're looking into their wine club.... hmmm...anniversary gift??

The 1st Garage Sale was a big hit! Thanks to everyone for participating, visiting, and especially to Pam & Wes Griffin for hosting! We're getting a good start to raising some team funds!

Susan G Komen 3 Day Walk

I finally got signed up & am so excited about this event! I've been so impressed with this organization since the first 5k I participated in last year. Not only do they fund research for the disease worldwide, but also support local efforts for screening & diagnosis, etc.

I'll be blogging about our events as well as my training efforts. I've never trained for a long-distance walk, so I'm going to need to do some research. Since I'm planning to run El Scorcho Cuatro this summer, I hope to be in good shape by June. Then switch gears for the walk by beginning a 16-week training schedule in July.
