Galveston Vacation 2011

We were fortunate to be able to go back to Pointe West in Galveston, TX this year.  We love visiting Pointe West each summer, but have skipped the last 2.  Fortunately, the condo we love so much faired well after Hurricane Ike.
We loaded up everything (minus the dog) and even packed in our friends, the Powers, this year for a super great week at the beach.  Here are a few things we did, in no particular order.
Swim.
We spent alot of time in the water, whether it was in the ocean,
the bay, the pool, or floating in the lazy river.

We lounged on the patio.  This is also where we eat popsicles.

We were very fortunate to have carts to go all over the property.

Some of us slept in. Okay - it was really only these 2.

We went out to eat at Yaga's on the Strand.

We watched a movie.

We caught some sharks (yikes!).

And they all got back in the water after seeing the sharks!

Addison gave herself a mud bath.

A little cooking.

We did some napping.

We had some mandatory 'down time' on the couch.

Table tennis, poolside.

Did I mention we loved the carts?

Walking Works - Week 1

We've started a Walking Works challenge at work. We all have pedometers to track our steps each day. Each region throughout the country is a Team.  The goal, of course, is to get you moving!

I love the idea & the fact that our CEO puts these programs into place. There's no doubt that if our country was healthier & more proactive, we would not have this whole Obama Healthcare debacle to deal with.

The challenge is for 6 weeks.  I was really done with the pedometer after day 4.

The dumb thing reset on Day 4.  And I lost it for half of a day on Day 5.  But I will keep wearing it.  After 5 days, I have logged 19 miles.  Not too impressive in my standards. My personal goal is to increase my miles each week.  That should set me up for 1/2 marathon training season ....if I ever actually sign up for one.

After '17 days' as Preston has counted, my house is unusually quiet.

Blog & Picture updates to come from our annual Two Week roller-coaster-esque visit from the kids.
