Weekend Wrapup

Well, the weekend turned out pretty nice. I started the Saturday at Ezra James' 4th birthday party. I have decided not to post my pics because I am certain his mom's will paint a better picture of the event. I only wish I had a video camera to get the obstacle course live in action.

It was nice to see my cousin Ann and her two girls. I completely forgot she was in town and hope to get to see her more.

Eric and I had a nice Saturday evening all to ourselves. We tried out a new restaurant in Frisco, Social 121. I have a friend involved in the management there. Delicious meal from start to finish! It's such a luxury to dine at gourmet restaurants, and I don't like to take that for granted.

Sunday, Eric and I have decided to pursue living a healthier lifestyle by ridding our bodies of some of the man-made toxins we ingest everyday. He made me a fabulous egg and sausage breakfast first, and then we proceeded to visit three stores (farmer's market for veggies, Whole Foods for proteins, and Grocery store for the other basics). And after half of the day had passed, we chilled out in the pool.

Now it's back to the grind, driving 90 miles everyday to McKinney because another Administrator has jumped ship. A year ago, I had never been to McKinney Texas. Now I loathe it.

I decided on Thursday evening, as I was making my 90 mile round-trip drive home from work that I was going to have myself a Gringo Honeymoon weekend.  This has been a crappy week at work.

What is a Gringo Honeymoon weekend, you ask?

I've taken the lyrics to one of my favoirte Robert Earl Keen songs and tweeked it.  Since I can't have another honeymoon, I'll be interpeting this as a laid back, good ol' fashioned fun, kind of weekend.  There may be some beer drinking, some music listening, some pool or lake floating. That would be an ideal weekend.

Of course, I do have Ezra James' 4th birthday party in the morning, so I'll have to work around that.

We're starting the evening out by frying up some bacon and making eggs.  In honor of this breakfast-for-dinner dinner, I've whipped up a Screwdriver Martini.

Cheers everyone! Happy Weekend!

Friend Quiz

I dig this 9 Question Quiz blog I stumbled upon, thanks to a link from my mom.  She posts a 9 question quiz. Here's one I thought I could answer.

1. Have you and a friend ever have an argument because you were attracted to the same person?
No way. I usually avoid that sort of conflict.

2. Who never returns your phone calls?
Aunt Nell and Aunt Emilie coming in a close 2nd. It's making me develop a complex.

3. What was your favorite childhood toy?
My stuffed dog.  My tan banana-seat bike. My yellow Sony radio with a Milli Vanilli cassette for Chistmas.

4. Who is the last person you greeted at your door?
A smallish child neighbor.

5. Would you change anything about your life right now?
Yes - the amount of time I drive to work.

6. Who is the easiest person for you to talk to?
Lucky. Oh wait, he's not a person.

7. If you could live in any ancient city during the height of the quality of its society and culture, which one would you choose?  Greece. I don't know anything about it, but I imagine it was fabulous.
8. What is the most exciting event you’ve ever witnessed?
Most recently, being in the middle of the ocean with no land around me.  I find it to be pretty amazing anytime I am somewhere with no civilization around for miles.

9. What do you consider the ideal age to have a first child?
31

Last Week before School

We've all had one last week together before going back to school.  The kids spent Monday & Tuesday hanging out with Dad. They spent many hours at the Walnut Creek employee pool party on Monday and picked up some crafts on Tuesday to work on at home.  Wednesday our buddies, Jackson & Reagan, joined us for a sleepover & a trip to the Dallas Aquarium.  Isn't it good to be a Walker?

I stayed home from work on Thursday & Friday.  I was finally able to finish my photo book for 2007.  While it wasn't hard, it was time consuming.  But a big hurdle for me to actually get one completed. I've been putting it off for years.

Thursday afternoon we went to Ripley's Believe It or Not, before heading south for Meet the Teacher Night at Mountain Peak Elementary.  Preston will have Mrs Pearson this year for 3rd grade. He's pretty excited.

Friday night Addison & I were able to join 2 of our girlfriends for a little Girls Night Out. We started the evening with dinner at Chuy's in Fort Worth. Yummy salsa! We then headed to Casa Manana to watch Hairspray. I've never actually watched the movie before so I really enjoyed this trip to the theater a little bit more. We finished the evening with some gelato at Paciugo and headed home by midnight. Fun, fun, fun! All the while, Preston & Eric were getting some male bonding time at Dave & Busters followed by Smurfs, the movie.

Today we have spent most of our time in the pool & will probably do that some more tomorrow before getting ready for the first day of school.  My, summer has flown bye!  And with the crazy, dry heat we've had, I think it's the first time I've ever been ready for summer to be over.

My First Photo Book

I spent the better part of the weekend working on my first Photo Book.  I've decided that I will not be printing any more 4x6 photos for stuffing in albums.  It's taken quite a bit of time, although I expected this going into the project.

I picked 2007 as my 1st year to commemerate by book.  And it has been alot of fun digging through old photos, remembering the fun times we had.

This is one of my favorites so far.... I've only made it to July =0)

I think this photo says alot about my sweet husband.

Walking Works - Week 3

This walking challenge has been a little boring.  But I've stuck with it because that's what I do when I sign up for something.  However - it has motivated me to add an extra 1/2 - 1 mile on my morning runs.  And I even dusted off the treadmill this week, which I haven't used in 2 years.

We Didn't Break The Record

42 days? I think that's the number of days in a row that the temperature has been over 100 degrees. The record is 43.  Short 1 day.  But who really cares because the day that the clouds rolled in & it was a high of 95 was the best day we've had in 42 days.

We've been trying to stay active without getting heat exhaustion or sunburned.  One of things we have done a few times this summer is visit Top Golf.  There are 2 locations in the metroplex, Dallas & Allen.  They have a covered driving range with Food & Beverage service, misting fans. And the best part is that each golf ball has a chip in it so that each shot is tracked on the computer monitor in your hitting bay.  It's a fun way to work on your golf swing, have a little family-friendly competition, and stay out of the direct heat.

This is my favorite picture. Preston tries so hard to hit the Range Picker every time!
