A Quick Update

I've been a little busy lately but here's a few updates in our family.

Glen Rose
Progress has come to a halt for a few weeks because of our darn hillside. The crane that we hired to move the containers onto the foundation said they couldn't make it up the hill. Well, not within a reasonable amount of time - and they charge by the hour. So it's been about 3 weeks since any noticeable work has been done. Although, E is out there doing things on a weekly basis. He had 5 loads of rock delivered to widen our existing driveway in hopes that a truck can now make it up the hill with the containers in tow. That was the problem to begin with - the trucks that delivered the containers couldn't make it up the hill. So, other than that, we should be getting a well soon and E is also trying to place an order soon for all of our glass windows. Just as soon as we have a framework, much progress can be made.

Soccer
The kiddos are both back into sports. 'A' took last season off. She started soccer again and is on the 10 & under team. That means that everyone is older than her. I'm not quite sure how the decision was made, but she is doing a great job with the big girls. I thought that they may have intimidated her at first, but no signs anymore. This is her first season to play with real positions. She is a midfielder. She does a great job defending the ball & also assisting the forwards on their scoring opportunities. I'm so happy that she is back into sports.

TBall
P is participating in fall tee ball this year. He usually only plays in Spring and has played with the same team 2 years in a row. Which is nice because we know all of the kids & parents. The fall team has many first timers, so P looks very bored in his practices, but I am sure it will help him develop. So this means that E & I are now spending every Saturday in Midlothian. Yea.

Birthday Girl
A has a birthday coming up in two weeks. We will be celebrating at our house next weekend. Not sure what we're going to do yet, but we're thinking about this. It may be a little much, but we'll see.

Me
I should be studying for my first test right now, but I chose to prioritize my blog. My work schedule is nuts. We just had a huge charity event at our Club on Friday. Typically, organizations rent our banquet space to host their events. This time, we were the ones holding the event. Our 2nd annual charity golf tournament raised money for MDA, our Employee Partner Cares Fund, and three local charities. It was alot of work on our part & I will deal with the aftermath tomorrow at work. Budgets coming up in 2 weeks - those will last for about a month. And then it is time for the holidays!

Off to study.

Compensation

I've started my fall course - Compensation. While the three hour course (in one evening) gets a little boring, the material is really fascinating. Turns out that most of it is based upon psychological theories. Which makes sense - do you perceive your compensation to be equitable?

I should have taken 2 classes this semester. I probably won't be saying that a month from now when I'm up to my ears in budgets.

Back to School

The kids are back in school this week. We had a chance to meet the new teacher's last week.

'A' & Mrs. Day, 3rd Grade

Mrs. Hartgraves (back left) and P-Diddy, Kindergarten
Word has it that PDiddy has already received a Yellow card for talking. Kindergarten is tough.
