We've started a Walking Works challenge at work. We all have pedometers to track our steps each day. Each region throughout the country is a Team. The goal, of course, is to get you moving!
I love the idea & the fact that our CEO puts these programs into place. There's no doubt that if our country was healthier & more proactive, we would not have this whole Obama Healthcare debacle to deal with.
The challenge is for 6 weeks. I was really done with the pedometer after day 4.
The dumb thing reset on Day 4. And I lost it for half of a day on Day 5. But I will keep wearing it. After 5 days, I have logged 19 miles. Not too impressive in my standards. My personal goal is to increase my miles each week. That should set me up for 1/2 marathon training season ....if I ever actually sign up for one.

Father's Day Weekend
A few blogs ago, I posted about traditions. One tradition we have at the Walker house is Father's Day Weekend. I feel like this weekend is really important to show the Father in our life that we adore him and couldn't survive without his unconditional love and support. So we try to make it super special.
Day 1: Date Night
We kicked the weekend off with the annual Daddy-Daughter date night. This has always meant attending the Daddy Daughter Dance, but that was cancelled this year. Instead, Eric & Addison went to dinner at the Triniti Room at the Tower Club in Dallas, located on the 48th floor in downtown Dallas. They had a great time & I think Addison was really blown away by the place.
I'm a little concerned that by exposing her to this fine dining experience at such an early age, her expectations for future boy-dates may be too high. Oh well!
Addison tried 6 new foods - which is a big deal in her world of picky eating! Sushi, Lobster Macaroni & Cheese (doesn't that sound fabulous??), onion rings, and....I've forgotten the rest.
After dinner, they headed down to walk around Victory Plaza, the same place the Dallas Maverick championship parade was held just one day earlier.
While these two were gallavanting through Dallas, Preston & I also head out for a night on the town. It's alway Preston's choice, and this year he chose Pei Wei & Putt-Putt. I'm pretty sure I beat him, even with his funny math.
Day 2: Father-Son Golf Tournament
Preston is beginning to show signs of genuine interest in golf. He's gone to a few golf clinics/lessons over the years, but never on a consistent basis. And we occasionally go to the driving range or play alternate-shot family golf. Eric decided he would sign Preston up for a Father Son golf tounament and give him a little exposure to a real game format. And have a little fun together at the same time!
They picked up the DAL award, but had a lot of fun together. I don't know if Preston will remember it, but I know Eric will.
Day 3: Father's Day
The plan was to start the day with a special Father's Day breakfast made by none other than P-Nut himself. But with the girl sleeping in until 10, Preston lost focus and moved onto the Wii. I ended up making a great breakfast & we watched Eric open his gifts.
He received some socks, new shirts, and a camera. A nice camera. You'll notice in the video below he is surprised by receiving this gift from me. It's true, I'm really bad at making buying decisions & that is very true when it comes to big ticket items. But I did some research and had a little help from Cowtown Camera Girl.
We spent the afternoon at Top Golf. This was the kid's first trip & they had a blast. So I'm sure we'll be spending more time there. And then we made a mad dash back to the house. Grandpa Tom was coming over for dinner & Addison had a Cinnamon Custard Pie to bake!
So Eric said he had a great Father's Day weekend, the 'best' in fact. Which made me feel really good. I hope he knows how much we love him every weekend, not just Father's Day Weekend.
And I hope this is the last blog post I have with crappy pics!!
