Eric & I woke up the other night to a shattered window in our bedroom. Funny....neither of us were alarmed upon hearing the sound. What does that say about our ability to handle a crisis?
It turns out that Lucky, who is always sitting & watching out the window, had somehow tapped on our window one too many times. Possibly with his chew bone in his mouth.
Regardless, my super husband went straight to work the next day tracking down a new window. He had it installed within an hour. On his first window-install attempt. The new window is white, as opposed to the existing black windows. SO now it's 1 window down, 16 to go. Booooo!!! There are so many other things I would rather have than 16 new windows.

Summertime = Family Traditions
When Memorial Day came & went, I began to think that we don't have enough family traditions at our house. But as our summer begins, I realize that we do have quite a few. For instance, in the summertime, it's a tradition that we are in the pool early in the morning. We also have a tradition of going to Junior All-Sports Camp at Walnut Creek Country Club. The kids have a great time and a full day of activities, coming home exhausted everday.
Next up is our annual family vacation. This year we're going back to Galveston, staying at Point West. We love this place for many reasons. But mostly because of the proximity to the beach, the bay, the pool, the lazy river, and the daily family activities. This year we'll be spending the 4th of July there as well. We always have fun on July 4th, testing out new fireworks. I always tell Eric that if he goes to jail, I will not pick him up until the morning.
This year we are also vacationing with another family of 4. Fun, fun, fun!
And lastly, I always try to take Addison to see a play or musical every summer. This summer, we're going to try to schedule Hairspray at Bass Hall.
So, while I may not be turning out butterball turkeys every Thanksgiving, I'm pretty excited about the Walker family traditions of summer.

Getting Ready for Camp Thurman
Addison & Preston will be going to Camp Thurman in July. They hosted an orientation for new campers this weekend. After taking a tour and picking up t-shirts, we got to test out some of the activities together.

It's Time to Dust this Thing off.
Summer has arrived & Mimi has departed, so it's time to start updating the Blog again.
I think this may have been Addi's last season for rec soccer. We'll have to see what happens next year. But it was a good season. She played midfield & had a few opportunities to try out forward. She finished up her 5th grade choir season with the School-District-Wide program & did an 'app' feature with her Gifted & Talented program. She also participated in the Mt Peak Talent Show again. (Video post to come). Her plans next year are to enroll in Choir, Pre-Athletics, and ???. It is escaping me.
Preston had a Great baseball season! He's really gotten serious about his game this Spring. He has also really been working on his new bike in early Spring, spending alot of time working on his jumps in the driveway & down at the Park. He & Eric got to take a special Camping trip together for a weekend in April. And he had a big role as Clown Fish in his 2nd grade school program in May.
We've had a great Spring. Soccer, Baseball, friends (local & abroad), family. School is going to be out in a week & Addison officially become a Junior High student. Yikes!!

Eric & I took our first official post-honeymoon vacation together after celebrating our 5th wedding anniversary. We took a 5 day Carnival Cruise out of Galveston with stops at Progreso & Cozumel, Mexico. We had a nice time visiting Mexico & did alot of people watching while meandering through the boat for 5 days. This trip may not have been our cup of tea, but we will not rule it out in the future. We definitely want to head back to Mexico for an extended stay. And now that we both have passports, that might not be too far off!
And as for our Lucky, he bid farewell to his man-parts this Spring. And we are happy with his progress. A little more mellow around other animals, yet still very energetic and lots of fun.
That's a quick recap of the Walker's for the last few months. Check back often!
